Palestinian Hanadi Abu Harbeed invents an energy-saving device for drying agricultural products

The young engineer considers what she is currently doing as a “nucleus” for her great dream of establishing a company specialized in dried food and providing it in the local market with high quality and competitive prices that take into account the deteriorating conditions in Gaza

Hanadi Abu Harbeed’s project was just ideas circling in the imagination of a university student studying renewable energy engineering at Al-Azhar University in the Gaza Strip, and looking for creative technical solutions to dry agricultural products using solar energy technology.

Abu Harbeed, 23, believed in her dream and her ability to turn it into reality, and succeeded in creating a device that she told Al Jazeera Net, “It is the first of its kind in Palestine, manufactured locally, and it is an energy-saving dryer that works to dry agricultural products in the least time, with high quality, and at competitive prices.” .

Ambition

Abu Harbeed uses social media platforms to market its production of dried food, in addition to its continuous participation in healthy food exhibitions in Gaza, with the aim of spreading awareness and introducing its products and their characteristics that make them able to compete with imported products.

The young engineer considers what she is currently doing to prepare a special place as a headquarters for her small project that includes an area for displaying products as a “nucleus” for her great dream of establishing a company specialized in dried food that achieves food security from these commodities, and their availability in the local market with high quality and competitive prices that take into account the deteriorating conditions in the country. Gaza.

Abu Harbeed said that Gaza annually imports large quantities of dried food at exorbitant prices, and at the same time it is not safe for health, because its manufacturers depend on chemical treatment in drying by adding harmful substances to control the taste and external appearance, while in turn they are keen on products free of additives. sugars and chemicals, which preserves its nutritional value.
