The Al-Shuyoukh Cooperative Society for Productive Livestock in Al-Khalil stands as a pioneering success, empowering women economically and socially. Founded in 2001 by Yasra Awaidat, the cooperative focuses on diverse production activities, including food manufacturing and handicrafts, while prioritizing the development of its female members through education and vocational training. Yasra envisions a large factory for popular food products, a central headquarters, and a community market, aiming to further boost the economic role of women.
Overcoming initial resistance, the cooperative gained support by showcasing productivity and providing participating women with monthly returns. It has expanded its membership, diversified production, and entered neighboring markets through partnerships. Officially licensed by the Ministry of Economy and operating under the trademark “Qawat Bayoutna” (Strength of Our Homes), the cooperative continues to face challenges in product delivery. Nevertheless, it remains committed to improving the living standards of its members and contributing to their households’ economic empowerment.
